Firefox 27 to be released in February

Firefox 27 was originally scheduled for release on Tuesday, January 21st, 2014. However, due to Mozilla shutting down their operations until January 6th, they have opted to push the release back two weeks to ensure the build quality is not sacrificed. Firefox 26 Mobile Released

Mozilla released the next update for Firefox Mobile users on Tuesday, December 10th. Firefox 26 included these updates: NEW
    • Updated about:home interface with Top Sites thumbnails, and ability to pin tabs to home page
    • Password manager now supports script-generated password fields
    • Performance improvements on some Nvidia devices
    • CSP implementation now supports multiple policies, including the case of both an enforced and Report-Only policy, per the spec
DEVELOPER
    • Math.ToFloat32 takes a JS value and converts it to a Float32, whenever possible
    • There is no longer a prompt when websites use appcache
    • Support for the CSS image orientation property
    • IndexedDB can now be used as a "optimistic" storage area so it doesn't require any prompts and data is stored in a pool with LRU eviction policy, in short temporary storage

    • When displaying a standalone image, Firefox matches the EXIF orientation information contained within the JPEG image (298619)

Firefox 26 Desktop Released

Mozilla released the next update for Firefox Desktop users on Tuesday, December 10th. Firefox 26 included these updates: NEW
    • All Java plug-ins are defaulted to 'click to play'

    • Updates can now be performed by Windows users without write permissions to Firefox install directory (requires Mozilla Maintenance Service)
    • Support for H.264 on Linux if the appropriate gstreamer plug-ins are installed

No Plans For Firefox OS Phone in US

Earlier this year Mozilla announced it would release Firefox OS phones in the US sometime next year. CNet cites Mozilla Executive Chair Mitchell Baker as saying "currently, there are no plans to launch in the U.S." However, you may still be able to get your hands on an unlocked ZTE Open Powered By Firefox OS smart phone via eBay (note this phone does not support 4G/4G LTE). via Tom's Hardware
